Purpose of CASAPreventing sexual violence is achievable through action. No one should have to say "me too" again. Within the CASA Lab, we aim to be catalysts for change, fostering research, collaboration, and community engagement. Your involvement can drive systematic transformation!
The CASA Lab empowers scholars committed to preventing sexual violence. Our work focuses in on alcohol's role with sexual violence, how effective communication of consent and refusals may be able to reduce rates of sexual violence, and how to encourage people to be active bystanders when they see problematic behaviors. We collaborate with researchers at the University of Alabama and worldwide, informing communities on how we can advance sexual violence prevention. Moreover, we team up with local community partners such as the Tuscaloosa SAFE Center to channel research and initiatives back into the community. Beyond preventing sexual violence, CASA Lab is devoted to training the next wave of scholars. Scholars refine critical thinking skills through hands-on research projects, including spearheading independent studies and teaming up on projects with lab members. Each lab member hones leadership abilities, contributing to our group of bright, imaginative, and analytically-minded scholars and advocates. |
